Dear Friends, welcome

to the website of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession, Martin, Slovakia. As a Christian church, we belong to a large family of Protestant churches united in the The Lutheran World Federation. We believe in a triune God, we profess one baptism, and we stand on the principles of the Lutheran Reformation: faith alone, grace alone, the Scripture alone, and Christ alone. In the power of the Holy Spirit, we form a community that has been professing the gospel for more than 460 years – the good news of God’s grace and love for the lost.
Our faith based activities include regular worship services along with Bible classes for adults, youth, children, and family ministries, choir and other missionary activities. Our congregation runs social services (Diakonia) including visitation ministry for alone and elderly people. We cooperate with the city of Martin, Matica slovenská, partner evangelical congregations in the USA, the Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine.
Within the framework of ecumenical relations, we work together also with other Christian denominations, primarily with the Roman Catholic Church. An integral part of the mission of our congregation is the Bible School, the Center for Christian Education, and the Lutheran Academy Martin, Slovakia.

We hope you will find this information useful and inspirational. We are looking forward to seeing you in person. May the grace of God be with you.

Milan Kubík
senior pastor

There are two sacraments we consider holy and important in our faith: Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
These sacraments are ancient gifts that connect believers. This is where God is truly present. The Sacraments come with a promise (forgiveness and new and eternal life) in a tangible way (water, bread & wine) and a command (“Go and baptize … Take and eat … Take and drink”). These sacraments ground us in our identity as God’s beloved children and bind us together to be the body of Christ, bringing Jesus’ transforming love to the world.
Holy Baptism – In baptism, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and marked with the cross of Christ forever. When we are baptized, we are reminded of our identity as children of God. With promises of forgiveness and everlasting life, we are freed to love and be loved. We recognize ONE baptism into the faith. We baptize infants, youth, and adults, acknowledging that God is the primary actor giving us this gift freely at any stage in life.
Holy Communion – Communion binds God’s family together to feed us, renew us, forgive our sins, and give us sustenance as we are sent back into the world. We believe Christ is truly present in this holy meal.
